SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
What type of work do you accept?
1
We accept fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and visual art. Although we have plans for an upcoming print anthology, all submitted work is considered strictly for online publication.
What themes or genres are you looking for?
2
Although we’re not anti-genre, we prioritize entertaining, thoughtful, character-driven narratives. Read our current and past issues to see what we’re about.
Is there a word or page limit?
3
We tend to accept work that’s at or under 3,000 words, but there are exceptions. We also accept flash pieces. When submitting visual art or poetry, please try to submit only five pieces at once.
When and where can I submit?
4
We’re open for submissions twice a year, usually in the fall and spring. We’re currently accepting submissions via Submittable for a $3 fee that goes directly toward operational costs. But if this is prohibitive to you, please email your submissions to discokitchenmag@gmail.com
When will I hear back?
5
We have a small but dedicated team. We generally get back to you within three months of submission. But if you ever have any questions during the process, please email us.
